ABOUT AISLINN MAYES - LCMHCA, NCC
As a mental health advocate and counselor, Aislinn is passionate about helping people in her community and by delivering solutions-focused therapy. She believes everyone possesses the necessary skills to make the change they wish to see. Solutions-focused therapy is strengths-based and centers on techniques such as setting goals, celebrating small achievements, and working as a team to help create passion and success in your life.
Aislinn uses skills from a person-centered approach when working with young children during play therapy in order to promote choices, foster independence, reflect feelings and help ensure your child is learning about how their actions have consequences. She also provides parents with co-regulation strategies in order to help promote self regulation for their child when at home.
Aislinn is committed to helping you create the life you want to lead. She will ensure a quality therapeutic relationship where trust is the foundation and your voice is heard. She will challenge, celebrate and embrace each story you share as a part of this journey in your sessions together. She specializes in individuals with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, behavior disorders, motivation, school concerns and family/relationship issues.
Aislinn graduated from UNCC with a master’s in counseling in 2018 and attended NC State for her undergraduate studies, where she completed her bachelor’s in psychology in 2014.
In her free time, Aislinn is an avid adventure seeker who enjoys traveling, reading, getting crafty and spending time with her corgi, Beau. She is a native to the area and has worked in local schools prior to become a therapist. She currently works full time at Pine Lake Preparatory and part time at Greenwood in the evenings.
