ABOUT JACKIE KURTZ - LCMHC, NCC, OWNER
Jackie is an experienced therapist who loves working with children, teens and adults. Her areas of focus are anxiety, depression, self-confidence, life changes and day-to-day stress. Having been in education for 20 years she has a special interest in working with parents, siblings and individuals with special needs.
At Greenwood Counseling Center, Jackie believes that making the appointment can be the hardest step. She provides a relaxing and comfortable environment where clients of all ages can see their strengths and reach their potential. Jackie uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Solution Focused Therapy and Play Therapy.
Jackie earned her Bachelors in Special Education from Eastern Illinois University and holds a Masters of Education in School Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University.
When she’s not busy working, Jackie enjoys crafting, spending time with her friends and family and listening to live music around the Charlotte area.

ABOUT AISLINN MAYES - LCMHC-A, NCC
As a mental health advocate and counselor for children, adolescents and adults, Aislinn is passionate about helping people in her community and by delivering solutions-focused therapy. She believes everyone possesses the necessary skills to make the change they wish to see. Solutions-focused therapy is strengths-based and centers on techniques such as setting goals, celebrating small achievements, and working as a team to help create passion and success in your life.
Aislinn uses skills from a person-centered approach when working with young children during play therapy in order to promote choices, foster independence, reflect feelings and help ensure your child is learning about how their actions have consequences in their life.
Aislinn is committed to helping you create the life you want to lead. She will ensure a quality therapeutic relationship where trust is the foundation and your voice is heard. She will challenge, celebrate and embrace each story you share as a part of this journey in your counseling sessions together.
Aislinn graduated from UNCC with a master’s in counseling and attended NC State for her undergraduate studies, where she completed her bachelor’s in psychology.
In her free time, Aislinn is an avid adventure seeker who enjoys traveling, reading, watching movies, getting crafty and attending fun events around the community.

ABOUT ANGELA WORTH - LMFT-A
Angela believes that each client is an expert on their own life, so effective therapy begins with client collaboration. She is particularly good at seeing a problem from multiple perspectives and giving all family members the opportunity to be heard and contribute to new solutions to old problem. She has worked with children and adults as a counselor and educator. She enjoys working with individuals, couples and families to help them resolve problems, develop new skills and build better relationships.
Angela specializes in working with interpersonal conflict, behavioral issues, anxiety, life cycle transitions, depression, and helping clients recognize and build on strengths to overcome challenges. Angela utilizes a client-centered, solution-based, systemic approach. Angela enjoys working at the Greenwood Counseling Center because it offers a warm and nurturing environment that makes clients feel safe and contributes to positive client outcomes.
Angela received her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from East Carolina University in 1997.
In her free time, Angela spends time with her husband and four teenage children. She recharges by reading, doing puzzles and being in nature. She loves to travel so that she can meet new people and explore new places.

ABOUT BRITTNI THROGMORTON - LCSW-A
Brittni believes that taking care of your mental health is an important part of ensuring that you are living a fulfilled life. The first step of seeking treatment can be scary and she is dedicated to providing an environment where you can feel comfortable to begin this journey.
She focuses on partnering with you to learn new skills, and challenge the negative thoughts and beliefs that all of us experience at times in our lives. People have the ability to create positive changes in their lives and Brittni will be with you every step of the way as you work towards your goals.
Brittni graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha with her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate. She has experience working with children, adolescents and adults as they navigate some of life’s most difficult challenges.
Outside of the office, Brittni enjoys traveling to new places, is always in search of a great Podcast, and the challenge of a new cooking recipe.

ABOUT TONYIA BEHRENDT - LCMHC-A, NCC
Tonyia believes that each and every individual has the ability to heal and reach their maximum potential. She is committed to providing hope for all ages. She is passionate about broadening her clients’ perspectives during their challenging moments, helping them to stay connected to their values while moving forward towards their goals. Tonyia believes that with therapy, a healthy, fulfilled life can be achieved.
Tonyia became interested in counseling after teaching in elementary school for over a decade. She realized how much she enjoyed the one-on-one supportive relationships she had built with her students and their families. Tonyia is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who earned her Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and is also a National Certified Counselor.
Tonyia has spent time as a community therapist where she provided in-home intensive treatment and case management for high risk children and families. Tonyia specializes in behavior disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and trauma therapy. Tonyia has a passion for teaching evidence-based techniques, child-centered and solution focused principles.
In her free time, Tonyia enjoys spending time with her family, beloved dogs, and enjoys numerous outdoor activities including hiking, boating and more.

ABOUT JESSICA PATTON - LCMHC, NCC
Jessica believes that in our challenging world a persons mental health is critical to their optimal functioning and wellbeing. She sees herself as a partner in the therapy journey, where the client is the expert. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy to work with clients on their goals and help them achieve the wellness they are looking for.
She enjoys working with children, adolescents and young adults. Jessica has worked extensively with children ages 5 through 11 and loves to engage parents, caregivers and siblings in the process. This circle of support gives clients the confidence to make changes and take on challenges.
She received her Master’s in Counseling from UNCC and a Bachelors in Psychology from Catawba College.
Jessica spends her time away from work with her family going on adventures to new places, reading and cooking.
