ABOUT MEGAN MCGUGAN - LCMHC
Megan understands that seeking professional help is not always easy, and her primary goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space where clients can work through challenging issues and improve their quality of life. Rather than adhering to a single theoretical approach, Megan integrates techniques from various modalities while staying grounded in Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—which emphasizes that our thoughts directly influence our emotions and behaviors.
She believes that true healing requires the mind, body, and spirit to be in alignment, and she actively incorporates holistic wellness into the treatment process. Recognizing that every individual is unique, Megan is committed to creating customized treatment plans tailored to each client’s specific situation and needs.
Megan works primarily with couples and adults. As a Level 1-3 trained Gottman Therapist, she specializes in helping couples strengthen their relationships, improve communication, and navigate conflict. She also has a strong focus on supporting individuals who are going through separation or divorce. Her clinical background includes specialized training in supporting clients experiencing addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life transitions. She holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Addictions and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina.
Outside of therapy, Megan loves trying new things—whether it’s exploring a new restaurant, enjoying an outdoor activity, or traveling to a new city. She also loves hiking with her children and staying as active as possible.
